Food shortage at household level
is high during the hunger peak period forcing children to engage in negative
coping strategies to make the ends meet. In major road, children are engaged in
selling mangoes to supplement household incomes. This is an issue of major
concern. Let’s fight for the rights of the children. #HACNEEDSASSESSMENT

To mitigate the effects of climate change, community resilience
building to shocks and stresses is the way to go. Women empowerment is key to
Food, Nutrition and Income security.
Women are the most affected in most households when there is food and
income shortage (According to HAC Needs
Assessment 2024 findings in Mhondoro Mubaira)

Social safety nets are
recommended for labour constraint households, the elderly and the disabled
during the lean season period and for non-labour constraint and food insecure
households, a productive assets creation intervention with hardware and
software components is very appropriate in Mhondoro Mubaira #HACNEEDSASSESSMENT.

Disaster risk reduction intervention prevent new and reduce existing
disaster from happening. Education and knowledge development on disasters can
reduce disaster risks. A person can live in unsafe condition due to
vulnerability. Such is a story of a young mother whose house was burn because
of uncontrolled veld fires in her area. Emergency provision of food and shelter
is needed. Development partners, the DDC office and Civil Protection Unit (CPU)
should join hands to alleviate suffering of this family. #HACNEEDSASSESSMENT

Child headed households are mostly headed by a girl child. This
situation exposes the girl child into early marriages and all forms of abuse.
Girl child empowerment through Technical and Vocational Education, skills
Training and social protection awareness equips them with knowledge,
self-confidence and build high self-esteem in them. #HACNEEDSASSESSMENT

Climate change is real. The false start of 2023/2024 farming season

by women who does not have sources of income, remittances and those who rely on
rain fed agriculture. The communities are in serious food insecurity crisis.
There is an urgent need to address the effects of climate change #HACNEEDSASSESSMENT

Women remain household pillars despite
challenges. Women continue to face numerous challenges, including limited
access to education, information and economic opportunities. They have triple
roles –social roles, reproductive roles and productive roles which are
unnoticed in most communities. Women empowerment equips women to fully
participate in social protection and economic issues national [Picture: Woman
